Machine Learning Engineer for Weather and Climate (m/f)

This is how you can contribute
- Develop, implement and maintain machine learning (ML) tools, services and processes in cloud and high-performance computing (HPC) environments such as Swiss National Supercomputer Centre (CSCS)
- Work closely with domain experts, data scientists, cloud and HPC specialists to optimize and operationalize ML models, also in collaboration with other national weather services
- Develop and apply ML methods for innovative flagship projects in weather forecasting and climate applications
- Testing new technologies in ML and MLOps through proof of concepts
- Driving synergies in the areas of ML and MLOps
This makes you unique
- University degree (at least ISCED 7) in computer science, applied mathematics, data science or a related field
- Experience with DevOps, container technologies, cloud platforms, and ideally, HPC environments (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
- Very good programming skills in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow / Keras, PyTorch or JAX
- Dedicated personality with a creative, problem-solving mindset and strong communication skills to inspire others about ML technologies and explain their potential in a clear, understandable way
- Active knowledge of one official language, passive knowledge of a second official language and very good knowledge of English
