This is how you can contribute

  • Advancing trait discovery and underlying genes (using GWAS approaches) in wheat and soybean. Co-developing suitable and effective genotyping and genomic selection strategies and their implementation in wheat and soybean breeding programmes        
  • Developing projects and tools designed to structure and exploit the natural diversity of the gene bank of wheat and spelt collections           
  • Developing innovative tools and efficient strategies for the integration of traits in wheat and soybean breeding using marker-assisted back-crossing (MABC) and marker-assisted selection (MAS)          
  • Taking responsibility for biotechnology and in-vitro cultures to accelerate the fixing of lines using doubled haploid plant generation and speed breeding techniques. Implementation of non-transgenic genome editing methods to increase the genetic gain            
  • Setting up scientific projects and partnerships, acquisition of external funding          
  • Developing, planning and implementing the various steps required to transfer activities from Nyon to Reckenholz (scheduled in 2026)            

This makes you unique

  • Highly motivated researcher with PhD in the group's research area: genetics and plant breeding, genomics, plant biotechnology, big data analysis            
  • Hands-on experience in biotechnology, genomics, bioinformatics and molecular biology            
  • National and international network within the research area            
  • Good leadership and good communication skills: open-minded, performance-oriented personality with well-developed team working capabilities            
  • Proven experience in publishing in peer-reviewed publications            
  • Very good knowledge of two official Swiss languages and spoken and written English

In the 'Plant Breeding' Research Division, practical new wheat, soybean, fodder plant and fruit varieties are bred and the new traits and breeding tools required for this are researched and developed. New varieties must be economically successful, be capable of being cultivated in an environmentally friendly manner, and must deliver a high-quality product.
